Mar 08, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. Koehler Renewable Energy GmbH, a subsidiary of Koehler Holding GmbH & Co. KG, based in Oberkirch, has acquired an 80% stake in GBE Gocher Bioenergie GmbH, Goch, and 51% of the shares in B E B Bio Energie Baden GmbH, Kehl, from RWE Innogy GmbH, a subsidiary of RWE Aktiengesellschaft, based in Essen, Germany, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network.
GBE operates the biomass cogeneration plant in Goch, which was put into service in late October 2012 and generates steam and electricity from renewable fuels. The plant will supply company Nähr-Engel with up to 130,000 metric tons of process heat a year. Nähr-Engel, which uses the steam to produce high-quality potato products, holds the remaining shares in GBE together with Stadtwerke Goch GmbH.
B E B operates two biomass cogeneration plants in Kehl, both of which generate steam and electricity from renewable energy sources. The remaining shares in B E B are already held by the Koehler Group, which is now the sole shareholder in B E B. The two biomass cogeneration plants in Kehl have a combined output of 68 MW of thermal energy and 11.5 MW of electricity. The process heat is used by Koehler Kehl GmbH to dry specialty papers.
The companies have agreed to maintain silence about the purchase price.
