The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending Euro 146 million to wood-based panels producer Kronospan to fund emissions reductions and energy independence measures across its Central and Eastern European operations. The investment will support the installation of rooftop and ground-mounted solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage infrastructure and the replacement of fossil-fuel forklifts and lorries with electric vehicles. The financing was announced by the EIB.

The projects will be implemented at Kronospan production sites in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with most investments taking place in EU cohesion regions. The initiative aligns with the EU's REPowerEU strategy and supports the broader housing agenda by reinforcing the supply chain for sustainable building materials. EIB Vice-President Karl Nehammer noted the company's role in Europe's housing and construction sector.
