Lumber production in the Western United States falls 20.7% in 2009

Lumber production in the Western United States totaled 10.299 billion board feet in 2009, down 20.7% from the 2008 total, according to the Western Wood Products Association, as Random Lengths informed Lesprom Network. Production in the Coast region finished the year down 16.7%, while Inland production fell 25.4%. Output in the California Redwood region fell 37.3%. December production in the West totaled 752 million feet, down 2.7% from November and 6.9% below the December 2008 total.
