Metsä Board, part of Metsä Group, has finalized negotiations on potential temporary layoffs at its Finnish mills, involving 1,100 employees from Joutseno, Kaskinen, Kemi, Kyro, Tampere, Simpele, and Äänekoski. The discussions, initiated on 28 October 2024, concluded on 4 December 2024, as per the company's press release.

The outcome allows for layoffs lasting up to 90 days, implemented in phases throughout 2025. Specific details, including timing and allocation, will be determined later. The company initiated these talks to align production levels with reduced delivery volumes should the demand for paperboard not improve in 2025.
