Metsä Wood will scale down its UK operations following significant changes in the competitive landscape and evolving customer requirements, leading to collective consultation with employees. The proposed restructuring would impact approximately 140 positions, affecting roles, responsibilities and reporting lines across the organization, according to Metsä Wood.
The company operates from two key manufacturing and distribution sites in Boston and King's Lynn. The Boston facility produces and distributes timber and panel products including softwood, MDF mouldings, door linings, sheet materials and fire-rated solutions.
The King's Lynn site specializes in engineered wood products, manufacturing Finnjoist I-beams for the construction industry and providing pressure treatment services for timber products sold to merchant and DIY markets.
