Metsäliitto Cooperative acquires 5.1% stake in Metsä Fibre from Itochu

Metsäliitto Cooperative, the parent company of Metsä Group, has completed the acquisition of a 5.1% shareholding in Metsä Fibre Oy from Japanese trading company Itochu Corporation. The transaction was finalized on 4 February 2026, according to Metsä Group.

Following the deal, Metsäliitto now owns 55.2% of Metsä Fibre’s total share capital. Itochu’s holding in the company stands at 19.9%, while Metsä Board Corporation continues to own 24.9%.

Itochu remains a committed minority shareholder in Metsä Fibre. The long-term commercial cooperation between Metsä Group and Itochu will continue following the transaction.
