Metso to supply roll wrapping machine to JSC Solikamskbumprom in Russia

Jun 29, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Metso will supply a StreamLine C roll wrapping machine and conveyors to the joint-stock company JSC Solikamskbumprom for their mill in Solikamsk, Russia. The wrapping machine is scheduled to start up in spring 2011, and it will serve two of the mill’s four paper machines, PM 1 and PM 2. The value of the order will not be disclosed, the company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. The Solikamskbumprom mill will be the first Russian paper producer to start exporting 2.4-m- wide newsprint rolls to Europe. The wrapping machine investment was made to ensure that the rolls will arrive in excellent shape at the printing houses. The StreamLine C roll wrapping machine provides the newsprint rolls with kraft wrapper. The wrapping process takes place along the winder discharge conveyor. The semi-automated, non-hydraulic StreamLine C wrapping machine represents an environmentally friendly and less maintenance-intensive roll wrapping solution. In the StreamLine C, hydraulic functions are replaced with electric ones, eliminating hydraulic power units and handling of oil, and significantly reducing wrapping machine noise. Elimination of hydraulic systems simplifies maintenance and saves space due to the lack of field piping and hydraulic power units. Electric drives also deliver energy savings when compared to hydraulic systems. The JSC Solikamskbumprom mill is one of Russia's largest manufacturers of newsprint, producing over 400,000 tonnes per year. Metso is a global supplier of sustainable technology and services for mining, construction, power generation, automation, recycling and the pulp and paper industries.
