Model Group's fiscal 2017 revenue increased by 4.6%

The Model Group, which operates in the field of cardboard and corrugated board packaging, recorded consolidated Group revenue of CHF 915 million ($924 million) in the 2017 fiscal year. This represents an increase of 4.6% over the previous year, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The main reason for the increase in revenue was the simultaneous growth of all national markets where the Model Group is represented. The triumph of corrugated board packaging solutions has become a Europe-wide phenomenon, meaning there have been bottlenecks in corrugated board deliveries that are still creating significant increases in paper prices. These have not yet been able to be passed onto the market in the required magnitude on the packaging side. CHF 86 million ($86.9 million) were invested in modernisation, sustainability and expansion projects.

The Model Group sold more than 1,246 km2 in corrugated board packaging/corrugated board sheets in its national markets in Switzerland, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Benelux, France, Austria, Slovakia and Croatia. Counted together, all cardboard and corrugated board packaging units comprised a total of 3.8 billion – around five packaging units per European.
