Mondi has opened a new packaging production facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, consolidating operations from its Wellsburg, West Virginia, and Oakdale, Pennsylvania, sites. The state-of-the-art plant produces paper bags for the eCommerce, food, feed, building materials, and chemicals sectors, with an expected annual capacity of 300 million paper bags after completing its ramp-up phase, according to Mondi.
The facility incorporates highly automated production lines and advanced printing capabilities designed to meet eCommerce customer demands for scalable volumes, short lead times, and consistent quality.
By the end of 2026, approximately 170 people are expected to work at the site, combining operational, technical, and customer-facing roles. The plant benefits from strong local infrastructure and proximity to key logistics networks.
