The total log exports from New Zealand have increased 20.3% to 5.12 million m3 in the first quarter.

New Zealand boosts log exports to China and India in first quarter

New Zealand has increased 30.5% y-o-y log exports to China in first quarter of 2019 to 4.24 million m3 with export value was up 25.6% to $512.2 million, according to new figures from Stats NZ. The log exports to Korea have gained 6.0% to 443.6 thousand m3 and that to India soared by 63.7% to  252.8 thousand m3. The total log exports from New Zealand have increased 20.3% to 5.12 million m3 in the first quarter.

The share of China in the New Zealand’s log exports increased by 6.4 pp to 82.7%. The average price for logs supplied to China was down 3.8% to $121 per m3 while the average price of total log exports from New Zealand decreased 5.2% to $127 per m3.
