Different regions and product groups of the lumber market slowly woke, even as commodity prices were largely flat. Meanwhile, plywood surged up across the board.

In the week ending February 9, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2x4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$442 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is flat from the previous week when it was $442.

That week’s price is down by -$3, or -1%, from one month ago when it was US$445 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$476 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$34, or -7%. Compared to two years’ ago when it was $1,220, this week’s price is down by -$778, or -64%.

 In the week ending February 9, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2x4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$398 mfbm. This is down by -$2, or -1%,  from the previous week when it was US$400 mfbm.

 That week’s price is down by -$50, or -11%, from one month ago when it was US$448 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$515 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$117, or -23%. Compared to two years’ ago when it was $1,310, this week’s price is down by -$912, or -70%.
