R.P. Lumber Co., Inc. has announced the acquisition of Southern Indiana-based Bender Lumber, expanding its total store count to 99 across seven states. The deal will formally close on 13 February 2026 and integrates Bender Lumber's eight locations in Indiana with R.P. Lumber's existing Midwest operations.
Founded in 1931 and purchased by the Bender family in 1963, Bender Lumber has a long-standing reputation in Southern Indiana communities including Bedford, Bloomington, and Columbus. The company employs over 100 people and operates full-service lumberyards catering to both professional contractors and DIY customers. R.P. Lumber has stated that all existing employees will be retained and that the transition is designed to ensure no disruption to customer service.
The move marks R.P. Lumber's second recent expansion in Indiana, following its October 2025 acquisition of Dye Lumber, and brings its total number of locations in the state to ten.
R.P. Lumber Co., Inc. is a family-owned, full-service retail home center and building materials supplier.
