Raute Corporation’s order intake was Euro 15 million during the Q1 2025 and included after-sales services, modernizations, upgrades, and individual value-adding machinery and analyzers for veneer, and plywood production. The order book was still at a reasonable level and amounted to Euro 146 million at the end of the period.
Order intake is composed of 48% from Europe, 38% from North America, 4% from Asia–Pacific and 10% from South America. Strong fluctuation in the distribution of new orders between the various markets and quarters is typical for a project-focused business. The majority of the new orders were service-related, and the Services business had a reasonable order intake in the Q1.
Net sales amounted to Euro 51.9 million, showing an increase of 16.1% from the comparison period. This was driven by the continued solid progress in project deliveries in the Wood Processing business and reasonable demand in the Services business. Sales increased by 18.7% in Wood Processing, 4.4% in Services and 27.6% in Analyzers.
Comparable EBITDA was Euro 7.4 million and comparable EBITDA margin was 14.3%. The increase was driven by strong operational execution and improved efficiency.
Comparable EBITDA improved in Wood Processing and Analyzers, while declined in Services. EBITDA was Euro 7.3 million. Items affecting comparability (IACs) in EBITDA totaled Euro -0.1 million.
The operating profit was Euro 5.9 million.
Mika Saariaho, President and CEO, said: “Raute had a strong start to the year as our comparable EBITDA reached an all-time high in the Q1 2025. This was once again driven by excellent operational execution, demonstrating that we have the capabilities to operate in a high-volume business environment and deliver large projects successfully.
Our order intake slowed in the Q1 after a more promising fourth quarter. This, unfortunately, confirms our earlier prediction that a sustained market recovery has not yet taken place. The recent turbulence in global trade, imposed tariffs, and subsequent counter-tariffs have increased uncertainty and indeed pushed the market recovery even further ahead”.
