Rengo Logistics completes new operational system

Rengo announces that its consolidated subsidiary Rengo Logistics Co., Ltd. has completed and now commenced operation of a new system for product load assortment planning and truck guidance using AI technology at the Yashio Logistics Center in Yashio-shi, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

The Yashio Logistics Center was opened in 2015 to improve the efficiency and speed of distribution of products of Yashio Mill, which is the largest paperboard mill in Japan. The Logistics Center is capable of accommodating approximately 25,000 tons of paperboard.
Automation of load assortment for product loading on trucks has been late in coming as there are many products stocked that are distributed to different areas, and the availability of berthing spaces for trucks must also be ascertained. The new system automates the work of planning product load assortment and positioning, which was previously carried out by operators, through AI technology developed in-house.

It can also create plans that are the most efficient and have a high level of safety, taking interaction with forklifts into consideration. In addition, loading time is reduced through elimination of planning variations of each person in charge and improving equalization and overall planning precision.

The introduction of this new system completes a series of systems, from guidance of trucks when entering the mill to product load assortment and loading, which have improved the operational efficiency of the Yashio Logistics Center as well as enabling actual working hours of truck drivers to be reduced.
