Rick Doman has been appointed chair of the board of Forestry Innovation Investment, bringing more than four decades of experience in Canada’s forestry sector, the Government of British Columbia announced.

He began his career in lumber operations and sales in his family’s business before advancing to manage sawmill, logging, and pulp operations, and later led global lumber and pulp marketing. His executive roles since 2001 include leadership positions at Western Forest Products, EACOM Timber Corporation, and most recently, co-founding GreenFirst Forest Products, West Kitikmeot Resources, and Boreal Carbon Corporation in 2021.

FII is a Crown agency that promotes British Columbia’s forestry products and oversees initiatives to grow international markets, encourage domestic wood use, and support sustainable and innovative wood practices. Headquartered in Vancouver, it operates offices in China, India, and Vietnam and manages naturally:wood, a platform for promoting B.C. as a source of environmentally responsible forestry products.
