At the end of March, Rottneros announced a reduction corresponding to 47 positions. The notice applied to both Rottneros Mill and Group functions.
"It is difficult to have to give a notice of redundancy in the run-up to the summer, although it is positive that we have landed in significantly fewer redundancies than we feared when we entered negotiations at the end of March," says Lennart Eberleh, CEO Rottneros.
In order to be able to handle market fluctuations and volatile electricity prices, the decision was made to go from six to five shifts at Rottneros Mill and thus optimize profitability.
“I would also like to highlight that we have had constructive negotiations with the union representatives, who have been very responsible and a good sounding board in a tough situation," says Nils Hauri, MD Rottneros Bruk.
The message has already been that, despite the economic downturn, the future is bright and that both the solar park with battery storage and investments in increased production capacity have been money well invested.
Trygghetsfonden and TRR are involved, as is Sunne municipality, to support those affected in finding new employment.
Rottneros is an independent producer of market pulp.
