Softwood lumber imports to the U.S.
finished 2016 with a volume of 16.7 billion board feet (Bbf), up 23% from
2015. December imports amounted to just over 1.25 Bbf, 6% above
December 2015 imports.
For the month of December, exports of Southern Pine lumber totaled 58.6 million board feet (MMbf), a jump of 28% above the volume exported during December 2015. December shipments offshore roughly break down as: 32.7 MMbf dressed, 9.6 MMbf rough and 16.3 MMbf treated lumber.
