SFPA: Southern pine lumber shipments up 5% in 2013
For the fourth consecutive year, shipments of Southern Pine lumber recorded an increase from the previous year. Shipments in 2013 totaled 15.026 billion board feet (Bbf), an increase of 5% over the volume shipped in 2012 (14.279 Bbf) and 27% above 2009 shipments (11.79 Bbf).

recorded an increase from the previous year. Shipments in 2013 totaled 15.026
billion board feet, an increase of 5% over the volume shipped in 2012 (14.279
Bbf) and 27% above 2009 shipments (11.79 Bbf), as the Southern Forest Products
Association (SFPA) said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
Tabulation of SP shipment totals is a cooperative effort with the
Southern Pine Inspection Bureau and Timber Products Inspection.
The Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) was founded in 1915 as
the Southern Pine Association. Today, SFPA is recognized as one of the foremost
trade organizations in the forest products industry and represents Southern
Pine lumber manufacturers from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. SFPA’s members
produce about 45% of the Southern Pine lumber in the United States.
