Saica Flex Deeside has announced a GBP 2.2 million (Euro 2.5 million) investment in a fully automatic coating machine, a move that quadruples the site's previous coating capacity. The state-of-the-art equipment coats wider materials at higher speeds with enhanced precision, delivering improved efficiency and product quality for the UK label industry, according to Saica Group.
The new machine enables the site to expand into linerless products, a segment of the pressure-sensitive label market that eliminates release liners and reduces material costs and environmental waste.
The project was led by Operations Manager Paul Brewer and Technical Manager Paul Mayall, who conducted global research on coating machine manufacturers before selecting the automatic coater. The site expects to pursue larger contracts and respond to market demand with the expanded capabilities.
The Saica Group offers sustainable paper solutions for the manufacturing of corrugated cardboard and packaging, promoting circularity in waste management.
