Mar 25, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Sandy Brownlie has retired as Chairman of Britain’s biggest sawmiller BSW Timber, as Timber Industry Magazine informed Lesprom Network. Martin Gale, already a non-executive director of BSW Timber, has been appointed as the company’s new Chairman from April 2009. CEO of BSW Timber Tony Hackney thanked Mr Brownlie for his total commitment to the successful development of the company. “Sandy joined the company in 1956 and has been at the helm since the mid-1970s, during which he has seen major change in the markets and technology,” said Mr Hackney. “On behalf of everyone at BSW Timber, I wish him a long and very happy retirement.” Mr Brownlie will continue to play an active part in the company as a non-executive director. BSW Timber is the largest sawmilling business in Great Britain. The company have 6 sawmills in the UK and one in Latvia, producing a total of over 700 thousand cubic metres of sawn timber per year. BSW Timber supply sawn timber products to customers in the Construction, Pallet and Packaging, Fencing, Decking, Joinery and Cladding product sectors.
