Silvicultural activities in Sweden increased by 5% 2012
According to the Swedish Forest Agency’s annual surveys on silvicultural activities, pre-commercial thinning was carried out on 388,000 hectares forest land during 2012. That is an increase with 5% compared to 2011.

out on 388,000 hectares forest land during 2012. That is an increase with 5%
compared to 2011, as the Swedish Forest Agency said in a press release received
by Lesprom Network.
Soil scarification was performed on 167,000 hectares and 166,000
hectares was planted in 2012. Compared with 2011 this was a decrease with 3,000
respectively 10,000 hectares. During 2012 some 36 million plants was used for
beeting, 5 million more than 2011.
Large-scale forestry fertilization was performed on 46,000 hectares, a
decrease with 7,000 hectares compared with 2011.
