Softwood lumber PPI decreases 3.4% in September

In September 2025, the producer price index (PPI) for softwood lumber decreased 3.4%, based on figures released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The hardwood lumber PPI fell 0.1%, reversing the previous month’s gain of 0.6%.

The millwork PPI increased 0.2%, following a 0.4% rise in August. The plywood PPI decreased 0.3%, after a 0.3% increase in the previous month. The softwood veneer and plywood PPI declined 0.5%, continuing its decrease after a 0.2% drop in August.

For overall final demand, the PPI rose 0.3% in September, following a 0.1% decrease in August. The unadjusted 12-month change stands at 1.5%.
