Stora Enso Fine Paper has ordered a rebuild from Metso Paper of the copy paper machine, PM 1, at its Nymölla mill in Sweden. The order is a part of a rebuild project with a total value of more than EUR 20 million. The startup after the whole rebuild is planned for February 2004.
The existing machine calender on PM 1 will be replaced by a two-nip OptiSoft SlimLine soft calender. The pre-dryer and after-dryer sections will be modified according to the most modern HiRun system and VacRoll concepts at Metso Paper. Metso Automation will replace the existing quality-control system with a PaperIQ quality-control system including MD and CD controls.
The delivery also includes an upgrade and extension of the Sensodec 6S Condition and Runnability Monitoring System. The target of this investment is to improve the quality of the copy paper and also gain the capability to produce colour copy papers. The Nymölla mill produces uncoated fine paper, mainly copy paper, in basis weights of 60-160 grammes.
