Sveaskog sells its total shareholding of 50% in Aktiebolaget Setra Group to the forest owners' association Mellanskog. Mellanskog's acquisition of the shares has been reviewed by the Swedish Competition Authority, which on 25 April 2025 decided to leave the concentration without action.

The transfer took place as of April 30, 2025. Sveaskog announced in December 2024 that a letter of intent regarding the deal had been entered into with Mellanskog.

“We are proud to have been a partner in Setra and now look forward to continued good cooperation as business partners in a competitive market,” says Sveaskog's CEO Erik Brandsma.

The decision is in line with a parliamentary decision from 2009 and Sveaskog's long-term strategy to be a responsible forest owner and an independent market player without its own interests in the forest industry.

Through the deal, Mellanskog becomes the sole principal owner of Setra Group. In connection with Mellanskog's accession, Erik Brandsma and Per Callenberg will resign from Setra Group's Board.

Sveaskog is Sweden's largest forest owner and is owned by the Swedish state.
