Sweden's total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips are estimated to amount 6.4 million m³ fub (cubic metre solid volume excl. bark) as at 31 December 2017. This is a decline by 19% compared with the same time frame as 2016, Swedish Forest Agency reported.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs are estimated to amount 2.7 million m³ fub. Compared with same time frame as 2016 this is an increase by 4%. The stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs were unchanged in the whole country with the exception in the wood balance region 2 where stocks were 27% larger than the same time in 2016.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 2.9 million m³ fub. As per assortment pulpwood stocks were: 1.88 million m³ fub of mixed coniferous, 0.47 million m³ fub of spruce and 0.9 million m³ fub of broadleaved species. Compared to the same time frame of the year before stock volumes of pulpwood decreased by 34%, the decline was in all assortments and all wood balance regions.

The stock volumes of wood chips are estimated to amount 0.8 million m³ fub, which is a decrease by 10% compared to in the end of 2016.
