Sweden’s total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and pulp chips were 10.1 million cubic metres on March 31, 2019. That is 36% higher than in the same period last year and the highest volume since beginning of 2015. The stocks of pine and softwood pulp wood was all twice as large, according to the Swedish Forest Agency.

The stocks of coniferous sawlogs are estimated to have amounted to 3.7 million cubic metres on March 31, 2019. That is 8% more than at the same time last year. The stock was larger in the whole country except in the southern part where the stock was at roughly the same level as last year.

The stocks of pulpwood totalled 5.4 million cubic metres, which was 58% more than the same period last year. The stock of pine and coniferous pulp wood was with 3.6 million cubic meters all twice as large as last year. The largest increase was in the northern part of the country.

The stocks of spruce pulpwood and deciduous pulpwood were 0.9 and 0.8 million cubic metres respectively. Even these stocks were slightly larger than last year. It is primarily the stocks at industry and terminal that have increased most.

The stocks of pulp chips were 0.9 million cubic metres. This stock was also significantly larger this year than the 1Q 2018.

Overall, the stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and pulp chips were 10.1 million cubic meters, which is 36% more than compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
