Swedish SCA Hygiene Products Russia to build an enterprise to produce tissue paper worth EUR 260 million in Russia
Feb 22, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Swedish SCA Hygiene Products Russia to build an enterprise to produce tissue paper worth EUR 260 million in Russia.
The new enterprise will be the largest one in Russia and its production capacity will reach RUR 11 billion, Izvestia-daily reported. Among the brands produced by SCA Zewa tissue paper, Libero napkins and Libresse towels are widely imported to the Russian market. With the launch of the enterprise these products will be produced in Russia and will replace imports from Austria, Germany and Poland.
Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) was founded in 1929 and is one of the world's largest producers of hygienic goods, cardboard package and newsprint. The company supplies its goods to Western Europe, the USA and Latin America. SCA headquarters is located in Stockholm while the company operates in 40 countries worldwide employing 46 thousand workers. The company has the annual turnover of $12 billion and is the largest manufacturer of hygienic products in Europe.
The new production in Russia will create 300 jobs and will contribute $6 million. The enterprise will process 70-100 thousand tons of recycling paper/yr.
SCA hopes for a rapid production growth, because an average Russian customer consumes 3 times as less tissue paper than an average Western European citizen. The construction will start in the 1st quarter of 2005.
