Swedish roundwood prices unchanged in 2Q

During the 2Q 2021 in Sweden's delivery purchase prices increase for both sawlogs and pulpwood, in comparison with the 1Q 2021. The sawlog price increased by 1% and the pulpwood price were unchanged. Regional differences occur and prices slightly increased in the Southern region and decreased in the Central region, according to the Swedish Forest Agency.

Sawlog prices continued upward during the 1Q 2021 and during the 2Q they were unchanged. Regional differences occur and in the Southern region the price on sawlogs increased by 2% while they decreased in the Central region by 1% during the 2Q 2021 in comparison with the previous quarter.

During the 1Q 2021, pulpwood prices increased but were unchanged during the 2Q. Regional differences occur and prices in the Southern region increased by 1%.

Increase in sawlog prices but decline in pulpwood prices in comparison with 2Q 2020

If focus is shifted to comparing with the same quarter last year, then the development differs.

The price of sawlog overall increased by 7%. Regionally, the increase was 12% in the Southern region and 7% in the Central region while prices decreased in the Northern region by 3%.

Pulpwood prices overall decreased by 7%. The decline was greatest in the Northern region by 13%, while the price declined by 6% in both the Southern and Central region.
