Lawton C. Roberts will become the next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TAPPI, effective 3 November 2025, succeeding the retiring Larry N. Montague. Roberts, who currently serves as the association's Chief Operating Officer, will take over following Montague's 19-year tenure, which saw the expansion of TAPPI's global presence and member engagement initiatives. The transition was announced by the association's Board of Directors.
Roberts joined TAPPI in 2017 and has worked with Montague since 2006. The board conducted a months-long search process led by its Executive Committee with an external recruitment firm before making the unanimous appointment.
TAPPI serves the global pulp, paper, tissue, packaging and converting industries.
