Nov 05, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Telfair Forest Products LLC bought a 50-acre tract in Lumber City, Georgia, and will bring with it 45 jobs and almost $6 million in investments, Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.
The state said the tract in the southeastern part of the state between Macon and Savannah was part of lumber industry for more than seven decades.
Telfair Forest Products will use some 50 thousand square feet of production facilities to produce and bag 3 million bales of wood shavings annually. Production is expected to begin this month and will reach full capacity in the 1Q 2009.
The company will convert Southern yellow pine trees into a premium-grade wood shavings product to be used as horse bedding. Southern yellow pine contains enzymes that prevent bacterial growth.
