The Navigator Company has approved a Euro 115 million investment to install a new tissue paper production machine at its Aveiro industrial complex. The unit will have an annual capacity of 70,000 tonnes and is scheduled to begin operation in March 2028, according to the company.
The new machine is designed to supply the company's UK converting operation, acquired in 2024, which currently processes around 130,000 tonnes per year but does not produce its own reels. The investment aims to create a more vertically integrated operation, reducing exposure to external reel purchases. The Aveiro site was prepared to receive a second tissue machine since the construction of the first unit, allowing for asset sharing and efficiency gains.
The investment will be distributed across three years, with Euro 48 million allocated in 2026, Euro 53 million in 2027 and Euro 14 million in 2028. The project will receive support from the Portugal 2030 programme.
The Navigator Company is an integrated producer of forest, pulp, paper, tissue, sustainable packaging solutions and bioenergy, whose activity is based on state-of-the-art factories worldwide, with cutting-edge technology.
