Turkish parliament has approved the Land Registry Law, which included the registration of forested lands that has lost its natural characteristics due to illegal habitation, informed Lesprom Network according to the Hürriyet. According to the new approved bill, lands, which are also called as 2B areas, will be registered on behalf of the Turkish Treasury and will allow its division into lots, including merging already divided plots. The opposition rejects the bill, and says with the approval of the bill, the government aims to sell these forested lands in order to create a new revenue source. The current law in the constitution does not allow the sale or division of state-forest lands, however the bill is considered as a preparation for this aim, Mehmet Sandir, a deputy of the Nationalist Movement Party said. Isa Gok, deputy for the main opposition Republican People's Party iin the southeastern province of Mersin, also said the government was planning to end the forest areas, Anatolian Agency reported.
