Jul 19, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. U.S. total kraft paper shipments in June were 134.5 thousand tons, an increase of 10.7% compared to June 2009, and 8,400 tons higher than May 2010. Total inventory was 67.1 thousand tons, 1,100 tons less than last month, the American Forest & Paper Association said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. Total unbleached kraft shipments were 118.9 thousand tons, up 10.8% compared to the same month last year. The year-to-date shipments posted an increase of 17.8% over 2009. The total unbleached kraft inventory was 800 tons less than last month to 51.3 thousand tons. The total shipments of unbleached kraft bag & sack declined 4.0% compared to June 2009, but 4.7% up from last month. Total year-to-date shipments dropped 0.9% over 2009. Total shipments for unbleached kraft multiwall sack increased by 30.2% compared to the same month last year, and 12.0% from last month. This is the sixth consecutive month in 2010 unbleached multiwall sack showed a strong increase over 2009. Unbleached kraft converting shipments were up 7.6% compared to June 2009, and 2.4% from last month. Total bleached kraft shipments increased by 9.4% compared to the same month last year, and 8.3% from last month. Total bleached kraft inventory was 300 tons less than May 2010.
