U.S. lumber output down 25.3% through August

U.S. lumber production through August totaled 15.515 billion board feet, down 25.3% compared to the first eight months of 2008, according to the Western Wood Products Association. Production through August was down 25.8% in the West, and 24.9% in the South. Nationwide, August production totaled 1.885 billion feet, off 24.1% from the August 2008 total.
