U.S. lumber output finishes 2009 at 23.3 billion feet

U.S. lumber production totaled 23.281 billion board feet in 2009, down 20.2% from the 2008 total, the Western Wood Products Association said, as Random Lengths informed Lesprom Network. Production in the West finished the year down 20.7%, while the South sagged 19.7%. December 2009 production nationwide was 1.662 billion feet, down 0.6% from November but up 2.3% from the December 2008 total.
