U.S. containerboard production up 1.8% in October

U.S. containerboard production was up 0.5% in October 2018 compared to October 2017 and up 1.8% year-to-date, as the American Forest & Paper Association reported.

The month-over-month average daily production compared to September 2018 was 1.5% lower. The containerboard operating rate was 96.2%, 1.6 percentage points lower than the same month last year.

Production for export decreased 13.3% from September 2018 after three consecutive increases but was still up 1% year-to-date.
