U.S. packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in April decreased 3% compared to April 2024. They were down 3% when compared to the same 4 months of 2024, according to the American Forest & Paper Association.
The operating rate for unbleached packaging papers was 86.5%, up 1.9 points from April 2024 and up 1.6 points year-to-date.
Shipments of the biggest subgrade in bleached packaging papers – food wrapping – were 27,700 short tons for the month of April, up 6.6% from the same month last year, and up 11.2% year-to-date.
