Domestic sales of densified biomass fuel in January 2025 were 0.17 million tons and averaged $234.96 per ton. Exports in January 2025 were 0.77 million tons and averaged $203.55 per ton, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration report.
As of January 2025, the monthly data collection included 75 operating manufacturers of densified biomass fuel. These manufacturers had a total production capacity of 13.13 million tons per year and collectively had an equivalent of 2,798 full-time employees.
In January 2025, the monthly respondents purchased 0.92 million tons of raw biomass feedstock, produced 0.87 million tons of densified biomass fuel, and sold 0.94 million tons of densified biomass fuel. Note that feedstock purchases do not directly relate to production in the same reporting period.
