Van Genechten Packaging Group announces the start of Euro 10 million expansion project at its plant VG Kvadra Pak JSC in Latvia, reinforcing its position as a key packaging partner for the Baltic and Nordic markets. The initiative includes construction, automation, and sustainability upgrades aimed at significantly increasing production capacity and supporting long-term regional growth.

Van Genechten Packaging states that the expansion will vastly increase capabilities and create new jobs and opportunities in Riga, as demand for sustainable folding carton packaging continues to rise across the region.

Frank Ohle, CEO of the Van Genechten Packaging Group, said: “This expansion extends our footprint in the Nordics and Baltics while adding to our strong premium network in Eastern Europe, together with the 2 sites of DOT2DOT in Gdansk and Warsaw.”

UPB Nams, one of the leading construction companies in Latvia, has been appointed as the building contractor for the nine-month project.

Van Genechten Packaging confirms that the expansion will be completed in Q1 2026, with the new site operational shortly afterwards. The group states that increased production capabilities, enhanced sustainability, and increased automation will come into immediate effect to support VGP’s customers in the premium packaging space, mainly in confectionery and beauty & cosmetics.

Details of an opening ceremony to celebrate the completed expansion work are yet to be released, but can be expected in Q2 2026.
