Voith Paper sold NipcoFlex shoe press to Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper, India

Oct 15, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Voith Paper has sold NipcoFlex shoe press to Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper, in Chennai, India, Voith Paper announced. It is part of the new PM 3, which will manufacture high-quality woodfree writing and printing papers on a wire width of 6.100 mm at a maximum speed of 1.200 m/min.

PM 3 is equipped by Voith with a Tandem-NipcoFlex Press Section, in which the enormous dewatering capacity of two NipcoFlex Shoe Presses is combined with bulk-protecting pressing, completely without the traditional roll nip. The Nipco-P backing rolls for the shoe roll are equipped with the new, grooved stainless-steel cover, G-Flex. Furthermore, QualiFlex Press Sleeves are also supplied for the NipcoFlex Shoe Presses.

Voith Paper is the only manufacturer that concentrates shoe-press and press sleeve technologies under one roof, enabling them to be optimally matched, company said in a statement.

For Tamil Nadu this is already the fourth shoe press after the rebuilds of PM 1 and PM 2 in 2002. This follow-up order demonstrates the trust that Tamil Nadu puts in this proven technology.

The first shoe press was put into operation by Voith in 1984. NipcoFlex Shoe Presses are used for the production of all grades of paper, both for paperboard and packaging papers as well as for graphic papers and tissue. This technology is also employed in pulp dewatering machines and shoe calenders.

NipcoFlex Presses with web widths from 2.600 mm to 11.500 mm and operating at speeds from 50 m/min to 2.020 m/min are running all over the world to the complete satisfaction of the users. To continue to meet future customer requirements, speeds of up to 3.000 m/min in continuous operation are already being run today on a NipcoFlex test stand.

Although the technology of the closed shoe press is already more than 20 years old, product developments are still ongoing. For example, the Mini-NipcoFlex Press which, despite a diameter of only 770 mm at 4.5 m web width, can press at 500 kN/m. This press will go into operation for the first time in October 2008.

NipcoFlex Presses offer customers a great advantage with regard to quantity and quality of production. With a market share of over 50 per cent, Voith is the market leader in this segment. This demonstrates that the NipcoFlex Shoe Press is the longest proven and most reliable technology in the marketplace.
