Sep 03, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Walki Group has started cooperation negotiations, regarding temporary layoffs in its Finnish plants, the company reported. The negotiations with the personnel group representatives concern all of the production and office personnel in the company's two plants in Valkeakoski and Pietarsaari, Finland. The two plants have a combined workforce of about 430 people. The potential layoffs are targeted to adapt the production volumes to match the anticipated demand and current stock levels. These measures, which are temporary by nature, are reflecting the company's concern about the demand development towards the end of the year. Walki Group produces wrappings for the paper and metal industries, food and consumer packaging materials, decorative and functional laminates, barrier liners for solid and corrugated packaging, composite materials for the insulation and construction industries as well as technical papers.
