Machine and plant manufacturer the Weinig Group is restructuring its production footprint in Germany, concentrating machine manufacturing at its Illertissen and Tauberbischofsheim sites following a Euro 120 million investment programme. The move is part of the company's Transformation 2027 initiative, which aims to align operational structures with expanded capacity and achieve profitable growth as a technology leader.

Production will relocate from the Malterdingen and Alfeld locations, while sales, service and construction operations will remain at both sites. Approximately 400 jobs are expected to be affected, primarily in Germany, with the company engaging in discussions with works council and IG Metall representatives on implementation measures.

The investment programme, the largest in Weinig's history, included Euro 68 million for a highly automated logistics and manufacturing centre at the Tauberbischofsheim headquarters, Euro 40 million for product portfolio expansion, and Euro 12 million for assembly and logistics upgrades at the Voitsberg site in Austria. The company is positioning for profitable growth through centralisation, process optimisation and efficiency improvements.

The Weinig Group is a leading global provider of machines and integrated solutions for the woodworking industry and craftsmen. Weinig is the world market leader in solid wood processing.
