Weyerhaeuser Company and Aymium have entered a partnership to produce and sell 1.5 million tons of sustainable biocarbon annually for the metals industry. The companies have formed a joint venture, TerraForge Biocarbon Solutions, to build an initial production facility adjacent to a Weyerhaeuser lumber mill in McComb, Mississippi, with operations planned to begin in 2027.

The partnership aims to construct multiple facilities across Weyerhaeuser's footprint over the next five years. At full scale, the platform will convert over 7 million tons of wood fiber supplied by Weyerhaeuser into metallurgical-grade biocarbon as a direct replacement for coal and coke.

Aymium's proprietary, combustion-free technology will be used to process the fiber.

Weyerhaeuser manages over 10 million acres of U.S. timberlands and operates 33 manufacturing facilities in North America.
