Jun 16, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Board prices dropped by 0.93% on the average in May, Lesprom Network's analytical service reported in the monthly wood based panel prices survey. Plywood accounted for the greatest contribution: its price reduction along amounted to 6.5%. Growth was observed in fiber board and medium density fiberboard segments where average price growth amounted to 2.06%. The average price for for 1 m3 of particle board (quality grade 1, E1) in May was 3,3% lower that in April; the price for 1 m3 of laminated particle board (quality grade 1, E1) was 0.2% down against April. Fiberboard (quality grade 1, TSN 40) in May cost 54 rubles per m2, 3,5% more than on the past month. The price for OSB-3 price dropped by 0.3%; medium density fiberboard (quality 1, Sh.) was 0.9% up against April. The price of standard format (1,525*1,525*18) waterproof plywood (quality grade II/II FK birch) became by 3% cheaper. One m3 of plywood of the format 1,525*1,525*21 (quality III/IV FK birch) in May dropped by 10% down against April. Forecast for June: stable demand for OSB, small reduction in veneer wood manufacturer prices and growth of prices for medium density fiberboard.
