Wood chip production in Canada experienced a substantial surge in March 2023, according to the recent report by Statistics Canada. Comparing to the previous month, wood chip production witnessed a remarkable increase of 21.9%, reaching a total of 1,266.5 dry tonnes. However, when compared to the same period last year, there was a minor decline of 2.62%.
Canada's wood chip exports during the first quarter of 2023 declined by 8.8% y-o-y to 44.5 thousand tonnes. However, according to Lesprom Analytics, the average price of wood chips expanded by 16.6%, reaching $114.0 per tonne.
