Oct 21, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) said that Erik Heilman has been named a Director of AF&PA Government Affairs. Heilman will be responsible for promoting AF&PA’s policy positions on Capitol Hill for climate change, tax and trade issues. Heilman comes to AF&PA with an extensive knowledge of international trade and the legislative process developed in both the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. He previously served in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Department of Commerce and both the U.S. House and Senate. He has also worked on transportation and appropriations issues. “Erik’s background in both chambers of Congress, for the Trade Representative and at the Department of Commerce gives him a broad range of experience that we’re excited to put to work for AF&PA’s members,” said AF&PA President & CEO Donna Harman. “Erik will bring extensive Capitol Hill experience and contacts that will help AF&PA effectively advance policies that promote a strong and sustainable U.S. forest products industry.”
