International technology Group Andritz has received an order from Holmen AB’s subsidiary Iggesund Paperboard Ltd. to deliver a biomass boiler island for Iggesund Paperboard (Workington) Ltd. in Cumbria, United Kingdom. Commissioning and start-up of the boiler are scheduled for April 2013, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. According to Holmen, the new biofuel boiler will substantially reduce energy costs and boost the paperboard mill’s competitiveness. The boiler will burn wood-based fuels (wood, sawmill chips, bark, and sawdust) and generate steam at the rate of 195 t/h. Andritz’s scope of supply includes the boiler island as well as erection work and commissioning. The boiler’s design is based on Andritz’s well-proven Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) technology combining high fuel efficiency with excellent environmental performance.
