Apr 29, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. The right to establish private forestries was registered by the new Forest Code adopted by the Armenian government, minister of agriculture David Lokyan. The minister said that in line with the new code, enterprises and individuals will get the right to plant forests on their own territories for further timber-procession. The new code divides forestries into special, protective and industrial. According to the minister, industrial forests may occupy up to 10 thousand hectares. The major part of the industrial are located in Synik and Taush regions. Armenia has a total of 350 thousand hectares of forest. The document envisages the mechanisms of forest warrant management.
