Exports grew 4.3% to Euro 4.5 billion ($5.51 billion), exceeding imports by Euro 2.0 billion ($2.449 billion). The export rate stood at 75%. Austria's key export partners were the European Union and the USA. In 2004 the 1,700 Austrian wood processing companies employed 29,400.
