Oct 28, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Bemis Co. Inc. reported net income for the quarter of $44.3 million, or $0.44 per share, compared with $41 million, or $0.40 per share, for the same period a year ago. Net sales increased 9% to $984.3 million from $905.7 million. Bemis Co. President and CEO Henry Theisen said sales in the flexible packaging business, which represents about 84% of total sales, increased 11% in the quarter. Operating profits grew just 1% because of higher input costs. Sales of pressure sensitive materials dipped nearly 2% to $157.8 million, reflecting weak economic conditions in both North America and Europe, Theisen said.
